I lost my password …. HELP!!
Relax,
Click on the, “Lost your password?” link that appears under the login box in the right column on the site. Enter your registered email address (and the CAPTCHA code – we’re trying to prevent spam here!) and then click the, “Get New Password” button. Once you do that, you should be receiving an email from the system with a link that you’ll need to click on to reset the password. Just follow the prompts and you’ll be good to go.
PROBLEMS?
Are you sure your email address is the one we have on file for you here at Roadie.net?
Do you have a spam blocking program?
(Turn it off or add wordpress@roadie.net to your address book)
Did you enter a “fake” email address when you registered?
If you can’t or don’t get the email to reset your password send me an email at karl@roadie.net and ask to have me reset the password manually. If your information doesn’t match (user name and email – even if it was fake) I will need additional verification to reset the password (See what kind of trouble you cause by not being honest when you register?) If everything matches I will send you an email with the new password.
NOTE: I travel A LOT so if it takes me a few hours (or a day or two) to reset it, please be patient.
What do I get for signing up?
By becoming a member of the worldwide ROADIE.NET community you will have access to a vast collection of stories, blogs, photos, music business news, and other things related to roadie life. And only registered users can post content to the site. You will also be able to interact with roadies worldwide through our own messaging system. Why wait – register today!
Are there any fees for joining ROADIE.NET?
ROADIE.NET is very proud of the fact that has been and remains a FREE service to the worldwide community since its inception in 1998. The site is updated on a real-time basis and maintained by a crew of Roadie Volunteers with new material contributed daily by thousands of active, former, and future roadies.
Where did the old LINKS section go?
Every Link that was still current was transferred to the new site. They can be found by clicking on the green Roadie Links button near the top of the page. They are now sorted by the specified categories.
Where did the old TOP TEN LISTS go?
The old top 10′s have run their due course and have been retired from the new site.
Where did my RESUME go?
All existing resumes have been deleted. ROADIE.NET is no longer going to offer resume services. There are other sites that specialize in Roadie Resumes and we are directing members to those sites. We will still have a place to store current JOB OPPORTUNITIES (that is, if you’re a registered user) and you can respond directly to those requests..
Where did my PHOTOS go?
Most of the thousands of photos from Roadie.net 2.0. were moved to the new site.
Check out the PHOTO section HERE.
Where did the ROADIE BLOG SECTION go?
The old posts made on Roadie.net 2.0. have been moved to the new site and are either in our Roadie Stories section or our new, improved GREEN ROOM.
The new site also has a section of featured blogs from top Roadies. You can check that out HERE.
Where did the FEEDBACK section go?
The Roadie.net Feedback section (comments) is now part of the Roadie Forums (aka the Green Room) Section. You can check that out HERE. Remember, only registered members will be able to post.
Where did the old LOST & FOUND section go?
The Roadie.net Lost and Found section is now part of the Roadie Forums (aka the Green Room) Section. You can check that out HERE. Remember, only registered members will be able to post.
Where did the Roadie Lingo (Glossary) go?
We’re currently deciding where to put this on the new site (since the Top 10′s are no more) … stay tuned!
Who selects the “Featured Roadie Photos?”
The Roadie.net staff rotates that assignment. Input from the membership is obtained through the use of “rate this picture” although a highly rated picture does not automatically make it a candidate for “Featured Photo.”
Where can I submit suggestions?
There is a topic in the General Feedback section (Forum – aka the Green Room) titled “SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW SITE.” You can post your idea there.
If you have an idea for a poll question you can send that directly to me… karl@roadie.net
Can I sell something on ROADIE.NET?
Non commercial (“Garage Sale”) items can be posted in the feedback section of the Green Room. Commercial items can be advertised using links (free in the “Roadie Recommended” section) or with banner ads (email karl@roadie.net for details).
Roadie.net has also started an ebay selling service for members that have memorabilia that they wish to sell including T-shirts, picks, passes, and autographed photos and posters. A fee is charged for facilitating these auction listings. No current tour passes, itineraries, or crew shirts will be sold, only “retired” passes, documents, and crew shirts qualify for the program. We’re still working on it, so stay tuned for the ebay link.
What is the difference between a “Roadie” and a “technician”?
ROADIE is a way of life, a calling, a life style, a chosen path.
Technician is a job.
A ROADIE can also be a technician (and usually is)
A Technician isn’t always a ROADIE.
Examples:
- A ROADIE “gets” the movie Spinal TapA Technician either hasn’t seen it or thinks it’s sophomoric
- A ROADIE still gets misty when he hears “Rosie” by Jackson BrowneA Technician either hasn’t listened to it or thinks it’s sophomoric
- A ROADIE has used “alligator clips” in an emergency situationA Technician would only consider “mil-spec” solder connections despite the emergency.
However….
Both ROADIES and Technicians agree that the show is EVERYTHING!
Now…
For the countless number of “technicians” that have contacted me over the years to state that the term ROADIE is (in their opinion) degrading and unprofessional, I have just one thing to say….
There are dozens of web sites and monthly publications (many listed right here in the Roadie Recommended Section) that cater to the “technicians” and the “technician life style.” Go sign up there, get yourself a corporate gig, and get the hell off my tour bus (with respect).
What is ROADIE PALOOZA?
ROADIE PALOOZA is an annual gathering of ROADIES. The first ROADIE PALOOZA was held Oct 23rd 2005 in Las Vegas NV at the World Famous Double Down Saloon. How do I advertise on Roadie.net?
There are three ways to advertise on ROADIE.NET. One is free (links) and the other two are for a fee (banners & mass email).
LINKS
Anyone related to our business can add a link to their website in the ROADIE RECOMMENDED section. If you have a logo you can email the file to me (karl@roadie.net) and I will add it to your link.
BANNERS
Effective July 1, 2011… the only banners allowed in the front page rotation are PAID ads. These can be set up in one of two ways.
Referral linked banners: Many banners pay ROADIE.NET based on actual sales of products or services. When a member clicks through to the advertiser and makes a purchase, ROADIE.NET is compensated. Examples of this are Amazon.com and Carbonite.com.
Traffic based banners: These banners are charged a fee based on the number of “clicks through” to the advertiser’s site. A deposit is paid in advance and then replenished as needed to keep the banner active. All banners randomly rotate every time someone enters or refreshes the front page of roadie.net.
Current banner fee schedule (8/1/2011)
Deposit required – $100 US
Fee per “click through”:
50 cents per click with a cap of $25 per month (50 clicks per month). Any additional clicks in a given month would be free.
When the $100 is nearly depleted, we would invoice you for the next few months. You can cancel at anytime.
A typical banner ad gets about 25 clicks a month but creates about 20,000 “impressions” of your banner every month. There are typically 20-25 banners running in rotation at any time. Banner ads need to be EXACTLY 468 px W by 60 px H.
Email karl@roadie.net to get started.
MASS EMAILS
To help defer the cost of this website from time to time emails are sent to ROADIE.NET members that have agreed to receive occasional email offers (opt in list). Members that have not “opted in” do not get the emails so this is NOT SPAM. Also per the ROADIE.NET privacy policy I do not sell or distribute the list of addresses to anyone outside of ROADIE.NET. All emailing is done by us directly to blind addresses.
The fee for a mass email will be determined by the total number of “Opt In” members. The fee will be 8 cents per opt in member (with over 10,000 members currently opted in that’s a minimum total fee of $800)
Email karl@roadie.net to reserve a date for your mailing.
