Again, another loss without a cause. RIP Matteo.
Now or never, we need to stop and seriously start a round table on safety standards worldwide.

  2. Karl Karl says:

That project has already started… by our friends at the of the Event Safety Alliance, they are going to create minimum safety standards for live concert events… sign up at http://www.eventsafetyalliance.org

Matteo Armellini was a professional rigger, on tour with the Pausini’s production, but this doesn’t matters anymore now.
Only three months ago I was here writing about the tragic facts occured in Trieste during the Jovanotti show set up.
Today here we are again: again tragedy, another young life lost forever, another hundred questions to answer.

@Dave (first post above): the MJF backdrop appearing on your personal picture tells me that you were in Milan someday for the Milano Jazzin’ Festival. What were your impressions ?

Terrible news. RIP Matteo. another tragic event for our industry. Another waste of a life and destruction of a family. This should never happen.
FYI The safety standards for lifting operations, structural design, and structural erection are already in place and have been for many years. BS and EN standards apply to ALL industry not just events or construction, and construction standards apply to event construction – scaffold access and lifting operations.
Structural Stability applies to design and construction of ALL structures AND the ground on which they are built. And Health & Safety applies to “all people and all areas where people may go”
rather than introducing new standards just apply the existing ones. Structural laws have been around since pre biblical times and have been regularly updated (currently reviewed every 5 years in EU & UK).

There are no news so far, about this tragic fact: the Prosecutor’s office put under judicial seizure the entire Palace, with all the crushed gear inside and the investigations are already on: according with the Venue’s Property, the estimated damages is around €1,5 millions ($1,9 millions)

Here I’m posting some exclusive photos, published on an italian news site, that could be the reason of this deadly accident: apparently the cause seems to be the yielding of the palace’s ground: it was covered with some wood boards, probably to avoid to scratch the surface, but the real question is what was there underneath the concrete covered by the woods?
